Greetings from the KLM Lounge in fabulous Houston, Texas. Up at 3am this morning to catch my flight out of Charlotte. Ugh. I’m tired, but fortunately I’ll be laying on the beach soon.

Next Stop? Roatan, Honduras.

Why Roatan?

To be honest, I was watching HGTV a few weeks back, that Caribbean House Hunters show Caribbean Life, and thought to myself, “hey, that place looks relaxing…. and I’m scheduled to go to Costa Rica again anyway, so……”

Next thing you know I’ve got a United plane ticket…this might be my last flight with them, I’ve been in chairs made of sticks and twine that were more comfortable…and a 5 day stay under a thatched roof hut on the beach. Yes, please!

Typically I check in at the airport on Facebook. Say what you want about the Facebag, or social media in general, but I like seeing what I did 3,4,5 years ago pop up on my feed, in the bathroom, first thing in the morning.

Admit it, you do too. Hell, you might be reading this in the bathroom! Gross, wash your hands.

Invariably, at least one person will comment on my check-in post and say something to the effect of, “Man, how do you do it? I can’t get away for 3 days much less 2 weeks! Everything falls apart! You should write a book!!!”.

So I am.

9 years ago someone said off the cuff, “you should start a construction company”, and I did, and that turned out pretty well. This year our gross sales every 2.5 days will equal what we did our entire first year.

I listen to the world around me, the universe if you will, for clues and guidance. You should too. It’s usually in your best interest.

But the point here is I am ABLE to get away. Most business owners and entrepreneurs aren’t. And that is sad. It doesn’t have to be that way! You can have a thriving business…or businesses…AND do what excites you. For me it’s travel. For you it might be knitting. Who knows.

So that is what I aim to do with this blog. Share what worked for me, and maybe what could work for you too. Of course there will be other happenings…like impromptu trips to Honduras…, travel tips, rants, raves, and anything else that pops into my overactive cerebellum.

Chances are nobody will ever read any of this, and that’s ok. But if you are here, I am glad you are.
